LIQUOR SELLING BY AGENTS.

Commonwealth vs. Franklin Hoffman.--The defendant is an agent for A. R. Cox, a brewer and bottler of beer, ale and porter, at Norristown, Montgomery county.  The agent travels into Chester county, takes orders and delivers from a wagon.  He was arrested on the charge of a violation of the liquor laws of the Commonwealth.  The question in the trial was raised whether Mr. Cox having a license in Montgomery county can come into Chester county, obtain orders for liquors and afterwards deliver the same without violation of the law.  This point was reserved for argument.  The court charged that the sale was made at the time the order was taken and the jury should render a verdict of guilty, which was done without the jury leaving their seats.  The case will be argued at adjourned court in December.  Wanger and Darlington & Cornwell for Commonwealth.  Moneghan for defence.
